Partner Hermes Marangos comments in The Times in relation to businesses’ potential liabilities, following the cold snap at the beginning of March.
Hermes’ comments were published in The Times on 25 January 2018, which can be found here.
Hermes Marangos, of Signature Litigation, said businesses that failed to meet their obligations could face accusations of negligence in not preparing properly or allowing conditions to develop that made them vulnerable.
“’You were praying for snow because you wanted an excuse for failing to deliver on time,’ is sometimes the charge,” he says. “Or, ‘It was your fault because you had not installed a back-up electricity supply’. Right now insurers will be looking closely at these issues. At the end of the day, some businesses will need to admit that they have liabilities because they didn’t deliver.”
