Alasdair is a commercial litigator with experience in complex, high value international litigation and arbitration. His clients come from a range of sectors including financial markets, oil and gas, property and investment funds.

Alasdair has acted on some of the most high profile cases in the London disputes market including multiple cases featured In The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases of the Year.

Alasdair’s experience covers a wide range of litigation and arbitration disputes, including those involving financial derivatives, civil fraud, regulatory investigations, energy and property investment across a range of jurisdictions including Europe, the US, China, CIS, Africa and the Middle-East.

Prior to joining Signature Litigation, Alasdair was an associate at King & Wood Mallesons (legacy SJ Berwin) where he qualified in 2014.

Experience

Commercial Litigation

  • Representing Bluewaters Communications in relation to its High Court claims against Bernie Ecclestone, Bayerische Landesbank, Bambino Holdings Limited, and others arising from the sale of a controlling stake in Formula One to CVC Capital Partners, which resulted in the conviction of BLB’s senior executive, Gerhard Gribkowsky. This case has been recognised by The Lawyer as one of the Top 20 cases of 2018.
  • Acting for S&P in a claim for c. $250 million brought by a consortium of investors in relation to ratings of complex financial derivative products.
  • Acting for a defendant in a claim for c. $156 million involving allegations of bribery and dishonest assistance.
  • Acting for a claimant UK property development company against a high street bank in relation to a multi-million pound claim regarding the mis-selling of interest rate hedging products.
  • Acting for a high net worth individual based in the Middle East in relation to investments into various property developments.

Arbitration

  • Advising an investment firm acting in the energy sector in relation to a hydro-electric project in Zambia.
  • Acting for a private equity house in relation to a dispute over entitlement to carried interest following criminal convictions of the directors of a third party firm.

Regulatory Investigations

  • Acting for banking clients in respect of findings against them by FinCEN and advising during subsequent interviews with the US Depart of Justice and FBI.
  • Acting for HSBC as independent reviewer of consequential loss claims by unsophisticated clients in relation to the sale of interest rate hedging products.
