Ryan is a Senior Associate experienced in international arbitration and commercial litigation with a particular focus on the energy sector, primarily mining and oil & gas disputes.
Ryan has acted in international commercial arbitrations under institutional rules as well as ad hoc arbitrations under the English Arbitration Act 1996. Ryan has also acted for clients in arbitration-related proceedings before the English Courts as well as arbitration award enforcement proceedings in multiple jurisdictions.
Ryan is qualified in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia and holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics and International Relations. Ryan is also a Registered Foreign Lawyer of the Singapore International Commercial Court.
Ryan is ranked as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ in The Legal 500 UK 2022 for commercial litigation and international arbitration and is described as “highly effective in difficult situations requiring swift judgement and action“.
Prior to joining Signature Litigation, Ryan trained at the international law firm DLA Piper in Sydney, qualifying in 2013 before joining DLA Piper’s Litigation & Arbitration team in London. Ryan has also worked at international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills in Sydney and as in-house counsel at a top 100 Australian stock-exchange listed company.
Ryan is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is a member of the LCIA’s Young International Arbitration Group, the ICC’s Young Arbitrators’ Forum and the Energy Arbitration Club.
