Biography

Thomas joined Signature Litigation as a paralegal in July 2016 after having worked at legal advice charities such as the AIRE Centre and the Zacchaeus 2000 Trust. He supports partners and associates on commercial litigation and arbitration. He has provided research on issues such as private international, financial services, costs, and competition law.

Thomas is currently studying the Bar Professional Training Course part-time and was awarded the Lord Denning scholarship and Hardwicke Entrance Award by The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn to do so.

He graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2015 with a degree in Law with European Law, during which he studied at Ghent University in Belgium for a year.

Experience

  • Acting for a large institutional and retail claimant group in complex group litigation against a large UK bank and its former directors in relation to allegations of breach of statutory obligations under s.90 FSMA with respect to alleged omissions and/or misleading statements in a prospectus. The areas of complaint included liquidity, capital, credit market exposures, risk management, VAR and LIBOR.
  • Acting for a trust fund in a breach of loan agreement and enforcement action against a number of management companies and their directors. Proceedings have been brought in Russia, Cyprus, and the BVI.
  • Advising a private security services company on public procurement matters.
  • Advising the shareholders of a bank in the context of FinCEN regulatory findings and further regulatory investigations by US authorities and debt recovery actions brought in various jurisdictions.
  • Acting for a UK aerospace manufacturer in a breach of contract claim against a French supplier.
