The practice is led by Hermès Marangos, who is acknowledged in international directories, including Chambers and Partners, as a leading and highly analytical lawyer with particular experience inter alia in Latin America matters. He advises various international organisations, including the UN, UNCTAD and the Berne Union in various issues, namely political risks.
Hermès is co-author of a key textbook on reinsurance law, a co-author of the book “War Risks and Terrorism”, and a contributor to textbooks on conflicts of law, property risks and mass torts. He is a Vice President of the Insurance Institute of London and drafts critical wordings for the international market. He lectures and publishes widely on significant international conflicts of law matters and on specialist risks and legal and forensic investigations.
Hermès Marangos is a “Leading Individual” in The Legal 500 UK 2019 for Insurance and Reinsurance Litigation and is noted as the “go-to expert” and “one of the pioneers on complex matters for the insurance and reinsurance industry in Latin America”, he is also recommended for his Commercial Litigation practice. He is also ranked as a Band 3 expert in both Chambers Global 2018 and Chambers Latin America 2019, for his Insurance expertise in the region.

Advising US and Canadian insurers in relation to coverage issues under an All Risk Policy arising out of physical damage to a drilling rig owned by a Canadian corporation during operations in Brazil.
Advising reinsurers under an EAR cover including Delay in Start-up in relation to damage to an electrical generator which was to be used in a project for the conversion of two existing gas turbines in Bolivia.
