Signature Litigation’s London office has been ranked again in The Legal 500 United Kingdom Guide 2024, with rankings increased for the Firm’s international arbitration and insurance and reinsurance litigation practices.
Fraud: Civil – Tier 2
Signature Litigation has maintained its Tier 2 ranking in Fraud: Civil. The Guide notes that the Firm is “often engaged on matters spanning multiple jurisdictions” and is “home to acclaimed names such as Ioannis Alexopoulos and Kate Gee”.
Partner Graham Huntley has once again been ranked as a Leading Individual in this practice area, and is described as “a lawyer with a particularly formidable reputation within the banking sector”.
Partner Ioannis Alexopoulos, described by a testimonial as a “strategic thinker”, has been newly ranked as a Leading Individual.
Partner Kate Gee has been newly ranked as a Rising Star.
Partner Julian Connerty has also been recommended as a “seasoned litigator with an excellent antenna” and as “calm, collected and not easily ruffled”.
Banking Litigation: Investment and Retail – Tier 3
The Guide notes that “Signature Litigation LLP boasts a high-quality banking litigation practice” and one testimonial comments that members of the team are “litigation heavyweights in small firm clothing”. The Guide further highlights that “complex and business critical cases [are] a mainstay of the department’s work”.
Partner Graham Huntley has retained his ranking in the Guide’s Hall of Fame, and is described as leading a team which has “a great balance of assertiveness and tact”.
Partner Becca Hogan, a “calm, composed and confidence-inspiring presence in a team”, has been ranked as a Next Generation Partner.
Partner Rory Spillman has also been ranked as a Next Generation Partner.
Partner Abdulali Jiwaji, recommended as a key lawyer, has also been recognised as an “extremely experienced litigator” and as “utterly unflappable”.
Partner Josh Wong has also been recommended, and is described as an “impressive operator who can attack a difficult situation with great energy, judgment and effectiveness” and “an extremely experienced litigator with sound litigation instincts”.
Recently promoted Counsel Alasdair Glass, described as a “standout associate with a bright future”, has also been recommended.
Commercial Litigation: Premium – Tier 4
The Commercial Litigation: Premium team is described as “cohesive, experienced, and effective”, which, the Guide notes, “acts for multi-party, multi-jurisdictional disputes” and benefits “from support provided by the Paris office of the firm’.
Partner Graham Huntley has retained his ranking in the Guide’s Hall of Fame, and is described as a “leading player in the London litigation scene”, at the head of the “hard-working, diligent and able” Commercial Litigation team.
Partner Daniel Spendlove, described by the Guide as “key to the team”, is ranked as a Leading Individual. One testimonial also highlights that Daniel is an “intelligent and skilled lawyer”, while another describes him as “first class” and “cool under pressure, a brilliant communicator and always with a practical solution to hand”.
Partner Abdulali Jiwaji, a “stand-out individual” is also ranked as a Leading Individual by the Guide. One testimonial calls Abdulali “super impressive” and “understated, authoritative and effective”. Another describes Abdulali as “a clever lawyer who[se] quiet and calm manner inspires confidence”.

International Arbitration – Tier 4
The Firm has increased its ranking in International Arbitration, and is described as an “excellent specialist litigation firm” which “handles a broad range of international commercial arbitration matters”.
Partner Ioannis Alexopoulos has increased his ranking in the Guide as a Leading Individual, and is described as “an expert in matters involving Greece, the Balkans, the Middle East, Brazil and sub-Saharan Africa”. He has also been praised for being “an excellent and poised strategist and leader”
Partner Neil Newing has also been newly ranked as a Next Generation Partner, and is described, together with recommended Senior Associate Pietro Grassi, as “excellent. Extremely user friendly” with “fantastic drafting skills” and “an eye to the bigger strategic picture”.
Partner Josh Wong has also been recommended as a key lawyer, and is commented as having a “very quick grasp of complex legal matters” and “excellent communication skills with clients, insurers and litigation funders”.
Partner Tsegaye Laurendeau has been recommended in this practice area, and is described as a “go-to lawyer at the firm” and a “first-class litigation and arbitration lawyer” with “great support from the firm”.

Signature Litigation has also increased its ranking in Insurance and Reinsurance Litigation. The Guide notes that the Firm “acts for leading corporates, insurers and reinsurers in high-value disputes”.
Partner Hermès Marangos, noted as having “particular expertise in political and trade and war and terrorism risk matters” has retained his ranking as a Leading Individual. One testimonial describes him as “positive, enthusiastic and hard-working, with very good legal knowledge and understanding”. Another testimonial comments that Hermès “has a standout profile in the international insurance market”.
Associate Adriano Stagni has also been ranked as a Rising Star for his “strong reputation in coverage issues”.
